Why did you become a hair stylist?
My Aunt always did our hair as kids and it was always so fun. I decided that I would love to have those experiences and not be stuck in an office. So in high school I went to Vocational classes & got my license within 6 months of graduating.
What is your favorite thing about the beauty industry?
It is always changing. I love how creative you can be.
Classes, Certifications, and anything else you would like people to know about you as a professional stylist?
I love education. I am certified with Hot Heads (for tape in extensions), I've done a Vidal Sassoon cutting class in Santa Barbara, I go to local classes as much as I can. I recently went to American Board of Certified Colorists in L.A., I do a lot of continued education with Lisa Pelletier Kelley (She helps design product lines & actually writes manuals for the color lines & is a board certified colorist), I've also done classes with Bumble & Bumble, Redken (recently on Baby lights & Balayage), Schwartzkopf (Blonde Me classes) and I am looking forward to my next class with Ouidad that will help me become a Curly Hair Specialist.
I love spending time with my 11 year old daughter & my family. We love to go camping or doing anything outside.
Favorite Hair icon either past or present?
Jennifer Anniston used to always be my "go to girl", her hair is always amazing with every trend she wears. Fun wise -I love Pink & Gwen Stefani, they are not afraid to do what they want.
Favorite Lipstick brand and color?
I am pretty simple, give me lip gloss with a little color and I am happy.
What was the first service you did as a professional cosmetologist?
I'm almost embarrassed to say it- it was probably a perm on my Mom! It was 1990!
Some advice for clients about hair care, color, style, or anything else you want your clients to know?
Have fun with your hair. Don't be afraid to try something new! Especially with color,if you don't like it, you can always change it!
